A Journey of Love and Gratitude
A decade ago, I found myself navigating the challenges of single motherhood with three beautiful children. The hardest part was accepting that our lives would look different, especially during those magical moments like Christmas morning. The weight of that reality was heavy, but it was also in that darkness that I discovered the incredible light of community.
For a couple of those first very hard years, unexpected gifts appeared on our doorstep, a beautiful testament to the generosity of those around us. These gifts weren’t just material items; they represented love, support, and kindness—reminders that even in tough times, we are never truly alone.Â
As my circumstances improved, I felt a powerful urge to pay forward the love we received. Thus, Legacy Toys was born—a commitment to honour my community, my children, Lorelai, Emerson, and Genevieve, and the spirit of generosity that had touched our lives.
How We Help Families in Need
Every holiday season, we invite our community in Chestermere to nominate families who could benefit from a Christmas present hamper.
Here’s how it works:
1. Nominations: Community members nominate families in need from Chestermere or the surrounding rural area.
2. Wish Lists: We choose up to four families and send requests for their wish lists. We ask for items in different categories for both children and parents to ensure everyone feels the love:
Children: Want, Need, Wear, Read, Stockings
Parents: Want, Need, Creative Outlet, Self-Care, Stockings
3. Special Touches: If donations allow, we also provide gas and groceries gift cards to help with Christmas dinners and visits to family.
4. Magic of Giving: We wrap the gifts during our “Friends Christmas” at the end of November and my family and I deliver them in December, while the children are asleep, preserving the magic of Santa for those little ones if the parents choose to do so.

Last year we raised over $5000 and provided gifts for four families!
